TICAD Games Tunis 2024 — Rōnin FABA Cup launches under FABA patronage
The third Tunisian edition introduced the Rōnin FABA Cup, a Kendō tournament under the patronage of the Fondation Abdelwaheb Ben Ayed, alongside Mori sensei's training camp and an Ikebana demonstration at the Fête du Japon.
Tunis 2024 — Refining the format
The third Tunisian edition of the TICAD Games consolidated the People-to-People format established in 2022 and 2023, sharpening the curriculum-aligned track that complements TICAD's educational initiatives — including the ABE Initiative and GHRD (Global Human Resources Development project) — while preparing the ground for the first official edition in Yokohama 2025.
Budō — Rōnin FABA Cup & Mori sensei
The centrepiece of the Budō programme was the Rōnin FABA Cup, hosted under the patronage of the Fondation Abdelwaheb Ben Ayed — a competition that brought Tunisian and visiting Kendōka onto the same shiai-jō.
In parallel, Mori sensei led a dedicated training camp, transmitting technique and dōjō etiquette to a new generation of Tunisian and African practitioners — a direct continuation of the Grausem and Livolsi camps of 2023.
Culture — Ikebana at the Fête du Japon
The Culture programme inserted itself into the Fête du Japon, Tunisia's annual celebration of Japanese culture. An Ikebana demonstration turned the festival into a live exchange — flowers as a slow, deliberate counterpoint to the day's louder festivities.
Looking ahead
Tunis 2024 was the final Tunisian edition before the format moved to Japan for the first official edition in Yokohama 2025.
